Handbook of Electromagnetics - Ottobre 2019
di Carlo Riva, Gian Guido Gentili
It presents the fundamentals of electromagnetism theory to an audience that includes students who do not possess the mathematical tools of differential vector calculus. After briefly recalling the concept of field and vector calculus, the theory of electrostatics and magnetostatics is summarized to move on to a presentation of Maxwell's equations in integral and differential form. The properties of the simplest solutions of Maxwell's equations are then described: uniform plane waves. The theory of electromagnetism is, finally, applied to the study of transmission lines, both as a vehicle of guided propagation and as circuit elements, addressing the important problem of matching.
Carlo Riva graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 1990. In 1995, he received his Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering. Since 2006, he has been an associate professor at the Polytechnic of Milan. His main research activities are in the fields of atmospheric propagation of millimeter-waves through the atmosphere, Fade Mitigation Techniques, and satellite communication adaptive systems.
Gian Guido Gentili graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1987. Since 2002, he has been an associate professor at the Politecnico di Milano. His research interests are microwaves, antennas, numerical methods for electromagnetism, and plasmonics.
